Paxata is Joining the DataRobot Family

Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for Paxata.

Soon, we’ll be joining the DataRobot family to create the industry’s first end-to-end AI platform. As with any big change, there will be challenges ahead. But those challenges only serve to underscore the scale of what we hope to accomplish in this new chapter.

As you’d expect, my colleagues and I are excited about the possibilities. Here, I want to share why I think Paxata and DataRobot are the perfect fit from my perspective as SVP Global Head of Marketing at Paxata.

We marketers all know how to embrace a trend and adapt our messaging to position ourselves at the forefront of that trend. In the late ‘90s and early aughts, the internet and browser-based software was the talk of the town. Remember the sudden explosion of product names that started with a lowercase “i” or “e”? (At the time, I was working for BusinessObjects, where we went even bolder with what we called “WebIntelligence.”)

Then came the cloud, which was followed by the AI revolution—and now everyone is an AI company, because AI touches all corners of nearly every industry.

DataRobot, though, is different. They didn’t tack on AI as an afterthought. At DataRobot, AI is in their DNA. They build great AI products, of course, but they also live AI every day, applying it to internal processes like internal sales, marketing and HR.

While AI promises to add incredible value to virtually all businesses across virtually every process, research has demonstrated that achieving the operationalization and production deployment of AI models are a significant challenge for many organizations. One of the key challenges is the quality of the data itself—and obviously this is where Paxata fits into the DataRobot vision to provide a robust enterprise data preparation solution.

Many of the solutions claiming to offer AI platforms are only looking at the model creation, testing, and deployment. Without the integration of data management, however, it is near impossible to achieve the speed, agility, transparency, and governance required for today’s data-fueled world.

Paxata was born of a single vision. In order for a business to become information-inspired—to really take advantage of everything the AI revolution can offer—they need to tear down the barriers that slow the flow of insights. The most common of those barriers is traditional IT processes, in which a few select and highly skilled developers in IT are the chosen ones. They build data extracts that are then spoon-fed to business leaders via reports.

Why the gatekeeper mentality? Because business users, so the thinking goes, cannot be trusted with the data.

We disagree.
